How can I share my story?

We are looking for stories that take place in BC, or are about British Columbians: stories that help tell about our past and present, such as: memories of historic events or prominent British Columbians, tales of everyday life or extraordinary adventure, first impressions upon arrival and lasting traditions that enrich your community. You can tell your story in writing, by sending a photograph and description, by submitting an audio recording or by producing a short video presentation. Your story will appear on this web site.

How do I send in my story?

The quickest and easiest way to submit your story is to upload a digital file from your computer. You can upload an electronic text file, like a word document or PDF; or a digital image, audio or video file. You can also choose to submit your story, photo, audio or video recording by mail; an original or high-quality copy will reproduce best. Please complete the website submission form to receive mailing information.

Length and format guidelines

Each submission to the website can include text, photographs, audio, or video (or a combination). The total combined file size for photos, audio and video must not exceed 40 mb per submission. You can submit more than one story, as long as each individual story is within these size limits:
Text: Length up to 1300 words. Please upload photos separately from text files.
Photos: Each story can include up to 5 photos with a brief caption.
Audio: Each story can include one audio file up to 5 minutes in length. You can also record your story over the telephone by calling (250) 381-4305.
Video: Each story can include one video file up to 5 minutes in length.
